     President of our Indian Silambam Federation Dr M.Rajendran IAS a renowned writer/author of historical books such as "Cholar kaala Seppedugal", "Satta vallunar Thiruvalluvar", "Pandiyar kaala Seppedugal", "Vadakarai oru vamsathin varalaru", "Cherar kaala Seppedugal", "Pallavar kaala Seppedugal", "Baadhali – Short Stories", "Kambalai Muthal – Essays", "1801 - Novel"  “Vandavasi War 250” "Kaalapani"... He is very much interested in familiarizing the Martial Art of Silambam as one of the Games in National and Inter National Level.

 

     Silambam is practiced by school and college students in a big way. This will inculcate discipline, proper frame of mind and behavior among students.To promote and propagate such a culturally rich art form, tournaments are being conducted in various levels (i.e. District, Zonal, State, National, Inter-National) and also catering to special segments (i.e. Women's Meet, Children's Meet, Educational Meet etc) for U 14, U 17 and U 19 (Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior) age categories for both men and women by us.

 

     We are conducting National Level and State (Tamil Nadu) Level tournaments for Silambam Sport/Game for the past 41 years.

Formation of Association / Federation....

            Tamil Nadu Silambattam Association was formed in the year 1980 with Founder President Iyya P.K.Muthuramalingam,  Founder General Secretary Mr. M.Amanullah (Advocate & Former Joint Director to Tamil Nadu Government (Retd.,)), Founder Technical Director Mr. C.Chandrasekhar (Advocate & Former Government Pleader to Tamil Nadu Government (Retd.,)) and Former Chief Patron Dr David Manuel Raj to propagate and popularize the Silambam as game with well defined Rules and Regulations as designed by it all over World by conducting tournaments...

NATIONAL SILAMBAM DAY - MAY, 06

The National Silambam Day in India is celebrated on 06 May, on the birth day of our Benevolent Monarch,  Sovereign Head Dr. M. Rajendran IAS., a successful administrator and a multi faceted personality. 

Stressing the need to stay fit and healthy, this auspicious day is observed to spread awareness on the importance of Silambam sport and daily activities in every individual's life. Over the years, the federation has also used this day as a platform to launch various sports schemes, events and seminars, including the National Championship.
